La ficción arranca cuando un carismático y devoto sacerdote (Jay Ryan) abre fuego contra su congregación durante un servicio religioso, asesinando a cinco feligreses en el aislado pueblo de Riversend.\nUn año después de la tragedia, Scarsden viaja hasta la localidad para escribir un reportaje con motivo del aniversario de los hechos.
